It is the Capital of Pilsen region, renowned for the production of the world’s best beer Pilsner Urqiell. The historical heart of Pilsen has a symmetrical network of roads, rectangular square in the middle.
The dominant is the St Bartholomew Church, built in 1290.Among sacred sites there is a former Franciscan monastery with adjoining church, then Dominican convent with St Ann Church. The Big Synagogue, the biggest one in the Czech Republic can be found in Pilsen.
